Chemical Peel Pre/Post Treatment
BEFORE CHEMICAL PEEL:
Extended direct sun exposure including tanning beds are strictly prohibited before and after receiving a chemical peel.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER A CHEMICAL PEEL TREATMENT:
Skin may appear slightly redder than usual for about 1-2 hours after the treatment. If the neck and decollete are treated, the redness might last slightly longer.
Mild edema can last up to 1 hour.
You may experience mild flaking to visible peeling.
AFTERCARE:
Wait until bedtime before washing the face. Cleanse with a gentle, soap-free cleanser. Do not scrub and/or use a wash cloth.
Moisturize with a product recommended by your provider while the skin is peeling to relieve dryness.
Avoid strenuous exercise on the day of the treatment
Apply daily sun protection with a minimum SPF of 30 in the AM and throughout the day. Avoid direct sunlight for at least a week.
FOUR OR FIVE DAYS AFTER THE PROCEDURE:
The regular use of Retin-A, alpha hydroxy (AHA) products or bleaching creams can be resumed after 4-5 days.
Wait until skin sensitivity and all flaking and or peeling resolves before having ANY OTHER FACIAL PROCEDURES, including: facials, facial hair removal, microdermabrasion, Neurotoxin injections, laser treatments (including laser hair removal) and injectable fillers.
